The Scotty Depthmaster 1050 is the downrigger we use and have used on Shuswap Lake for at least the last 5 years. It’s small enough to easily attach and detach from your boat, but heavy duty enough to include 200 feet of 150 pound stainless wire. Since it is a manual downrigger you will see significant cost savings using this as opposed to an electrically powered downrigger.
We have no problem dropping the ball down to 150 feet in the Shuswap and retrieving the line, though we rarely troll with the line down beyond 60 feet. We have found we usually end up trolling at a line depth between 40-60 feet on Shuswap or Mara Lake.
